Pearles Specialty Cakes
Des Moines Wedding News had a chance to speak with Rebecca from Pearles Specialty Cakes. Her attention to detail is amazing! Any bride who wants to have that perfect cake for her dream wedding day should definitely give Rebecca a call.
What is your most popular wedding cake flavor? Does it differ between the seasons?
The most popular flavors still remain the classic chocolate fudge and traditional white wedding cake, but also, I’ve been doing a lot of lemon cake with raspberry filling which seems more popular in the spring and summer months.
Tell us about your most unique wedding cake you ever made and what made it so unique? The most unique cake I have done was a 6 tier fondant covered cake with a filligree design around each tier that I handpainted using melted chocolate and a paintbrush. This cake also had a monogram and a cake top made of sugar roses. What also makes this cake special to me is it was for my own wedding just last year.
What is your favorite thing about being in the wedding cake industry?
My favorite thing is being able to use my creativity to make a custom cake for couples who want something more than ‘just a cake’ which not only looks extraordinary, but tastes that way too!
What tips would you offer a bride who is searching for a wedding cake vendor?
My advice to brides would be to meet with several cake designers, and take pictures of cakes that you like to your consultation and have the designer draw up some sketches of a few cakes. That helps in knowing if you and the designer are going in the right direction in the style of your cake.
