K & E Productions

Des Moines Wedding News recently had a chance to interview  Karen from K and E Video Productions.  Here is our interview:

 1.  What made you decide to get into the wedding videography business?

We decided to start our wedding videography business after we realized what a big mistake we made by not hiring a videographer  for our wedding.  It was the one and only regret we had for the entire day.  We spent  so much money on everything for our wedding day, but failed to spend money on the one item that would have allowed us to live the day in real life time and time again.  It is our hope that no other couple has to feel the same regret we have and still do feel.  We now take a very emotional approach to capturing other couples weddings.  We know what we wish we had and love being able to do for others what we did not do for our self.  We truly live vicariously though every wedding video we produce.

 2.  What makes your videography stand out from other videographers?

We come to every wedding excited to capture all the special moments.  One of the most important and exciting part of the wedding day is when the couple is getting ready with their family and friends at the salon and/or hotel.  We LOVE that part of the day and think there are so many special moments and memories that happen during that time.  Because of that, each of our packages includes coverage of the bride and groom getting ready!  Our packages are also event based rather than time based.  We never want to have to talk to couple about money during the wedding day.  By having our packages event based we never have to worry about that.  If it takes 5 hours or 10 hours to get to the first dance, we are going to be there for it because they chose the package with first dance coverage.  They don’t have to feel rushed to get to the dance because the hours they purchased from us are up…NO WAY!  They paid for coverage to the first dance so we will be there to capture the first dance!

3.  What is the most memorable moment you captured on video at a wedding?

One of the most memorable  moments we have captured  happened because the groom broke his foot just weeks before the wedding which meant he could not participate in the first dance as they had practiced for.  He took matters into his own hands and surprised all the guests when he came rolling into the reception on a scooter with his wife on his lap complete with the “just married” sign on the back.  They proceeded to dance their first dance with a combination of dance moves modified to suit the scooter.  They certainly took a lemon and made lemonade, it was a first dance to remember forever!

 4.  What’s your wedding video style when in filming a wedding  ex.interview-style, documentary, etc? Do you have a standard shot or set-up list?

Our style is fast-paced.  We are on the go all day long capturing many moments that the bride and groom may not even realize are happening during the day!  The final video we produce leaves you wanting to watch it again.  Friends and family will no longer groan and moan if you ask them to watch your wedding video.  We have been told that many of our video’s have traveled to many states and made multiple appearances during holiday celebrations and family reunions!

This article makes me think twice about not having video of our wedding. Right now its just so hard to justify the price compared to what we are spending on the wedding.
